  • Retaining Walls
It seems logical that man's first dwelling/building instinct would have been to level the ground wherein he slept. Building retaining walls not only gives us access to land otherwise lost to an unusable slope, it provides a fixture pleasing to the eye. At MSITE, we see retaining-wall building from its twin faces of both the art and the necessity. With so many affordable materials and methods available today, retaining walls can fit any budget. This retaining wall was built at a park where there was a large slope. Here, we were able to utilize the slope and make steps leading to the play ground equipment - making this a multi-functional retaining wall.
  • Excavation
Large or small, MSITE knows about excavating and moving dirt. MSITE’s special niche is micro-excavation by using our small machines that can--and do--get work done with minimum impact to existing landscape features. This makes it easy for us to complete small excavation jobs without tearing up your yard, street, or fence. Despite a small footprint, we are not to be underestimated when it comes to moving a large amount of dirt in a short amount of time.
  • Trail Building
As beautiful as untouched mountainscapes are, without accessibility, their enjoyment is limited. At MSITE, we love the idea of keeping the beauty of the land intact, while taming it just enough with a solid, yet low-impact, accessible trail that facilitates foot, cycling, and other wheeled traffic through its grandeur. Therefore, we focus on easing the trail into the land in a way, that afterward, makes it look as if we were invited. As avid hikers, backpackers and mountaineers ourselves, we know this is important. Our trails start like our roads. First, we remove the vegetation, foliage, and soft upper layer of soil. Next, we pull out the firmer soil from the hillside (where available), and level and compact it as the base for our trail. We may even bring in crushed gravel and rock, depending upon the need, to add this to the base. Finally, we trench the sides and install inconspicuous culverts to provide for water movement without trail erosion. In areas of heavy brush, we landscape the sides of the trails just enough to ensure comfortable passage and room for natural growth. Our trails can range in size from 48" to 72" wide. They can traverse steep hillsides, and cross marshes or streams. Once finished, our trails are suitable for horses, bicycles, and pedestrians.
  • Crawl Space Development
Sitting under each of our homes is a great opportunity for expansion. MSITE can help you turn your crawl space into a storage room, root cellar, safe room, or a combination of all three. This is our most popular and favorite project so far. Using our small--but mighty--machines, we are able to fit in tight spaces to clear out, expand, build, and enhance, instantly adding value to your home.
